Fear

Fear is one of the most common emotions. This does not mean that there are millions of us running around screaming in terror all day. Instead, when we talk about fear, we are talking about an emotion that has many shades.

Fear means anxiety. It means worry. It means stress. When our race was still in the early stages of development, it didn't mean these things. Back then fear meant fear, fight or flight, kill the sabre tooth or die.

Bt as we grew so did our potential for worry. We began to feel anxiety about our young ones, our relationships. And as the world grew smaller, our fears grew more complex...

Take public speaking. If you fear doing this you are only one step away from the fear of the mammoth. A few more steps along the line and we have that small but niggling thing we call fear of failure.

So how do we deal with fear? What can we do to ensure that we don't allow fear, as in anxiety and worry, to rule our lives?

In the next post, we will explore this further...
